After all, there would be nothing worse than thinking you are going to get the perfect site only to find out you hate what they came up with.

Be prepared to give feedback -- When you do hire a company and they start a design, remember the first design is not always the finished product. Be prepared to give feedback and ask for changes, so you can be sure to get exactly what you want.
